Gene Cartier is an award-winning actor and filmmaker, and a talented singer, songwriter, and musician. His film work, on both sides of the camera, has been critically acclaimed in festivals across the globe. His musical accolades include collaborations with Grammy Award-Winners and Nominees, and performances in legendary venues from the Hollywood House of Blues to the Apollo Theater in Harlem, NY.
Though currently based in Los Angeles, Gene was born and raised in the Washington, DC area. He graduated from the University of Maryland with three degrees and began working in Structured Finance on DC’s famed “K Street.” To keep himself busy, he also obtained his license as a Certified Public Accountant (no, he does not want to do your taxes). Gene’s approach to leadership and service has been greatly impacted by his selection as a scholar in the Institute for Responsible Citizenship. This public policy and leadership program provided him with mentorship from U.S. Secretaries of State, Supreme Court Justices, and most memorably the last surviving speaker of the Civil Rights Movement’s March on Washington in 1963. In 2022, Gene attended Yale University's intensive Conservatory for Actors. He has also trained extensively with top acting coaches including Aaron Speiser, Shannon Sturges, and Margie Haber. Gene is also a graduate of the Upright Citizens Brigade core improv program and has studied Seth Rigg’s Speech Level Singing with Adreana Gonzalez of Hollywood Vocal Studios. Having made his directorial debut with the award-winning, socially conscious short film “Reflection” (2020), Gene continues to create meaningful content. Drawing from his experience in forensic accounting, Gene has begun development of his next film: a satirical comedy about white-collar crime in America. But no, he still doesn’t want to do your taxes. |
